Riverdale Road, an 11-mile stretch between Thornton and Brighton, Colorado, is notorious for its urban legends and paranormal sightings. Key legends include a man who set his mansion on fire with his family inside, leading to the "gates of hell" myth, and sightings of a woman in white, a phantom jogger, and a ghost driver in a Camaro. Paranormal activities reported include hearing distressed screams, seeing bodies hanging from trees, and bloody handprints on signs. The road is believed to be haunted due to its history and the land's connection to Native American spirits.
So let's start from the beginning. Let's recap.
Ella was driving her Tesla and that's important for later. But we started from the bottom by 88th Street and we made our way up and we stopped at the address that it gave us for David Wolpert - which by the way, there is not a home there anymore. There's nothing there, it's just like an open space now. Yeah. But there is the tree and you can see it in all the photos of the house, so you can kind of get a feel of where that house stood.
We stood near the fence, and noticed a weirdly illuminated spot that seemed to glow more brightly than the surrounding open space. It wasn't lit by a light, but rather had an unexplained radiance that made the trees more visible in that area.
In the above photos we show a distant and close up image of the spot we are talking about that is more lit than the rest of the area. As you can see there are no street lights around or other lighting that would make that area any brighter.
So, we're looking at where the house once was and there's like that weird glowy part. So we were, we decided to use an app on our phone called Spirit Talker Light, or something similar, which we refer to as our ghost talker. It's sort of supposed to replicate an Ovilus - an Ovilus is a word bank, usually with a few thousand words in, which is linked to an EMF reader which detects EMF changes. Each word in the Ovilus is linked to a different EMF reading and it's believed that ghosts can manipulate the EMF, which in turn can be used to select words to communicate with us.
There were a few words that came up while we were using this Spirit Talker app including burning, jealous, help, nasty, fear, worry, and die. In the video below, you can see the words coming up in a steady pace and at the top of the screen, you can see has that really thin green line. Then all of a sudden it started going crazy, the top part was all red and shooting off words faster than we could look at them and read them.
Then we get back in the Tesla. because we thought about going and driving up to the tree where it said the house was located. So we get in the car, Dallas shuts the door and Ella put it in drive, and immediately it looks like the Tesla senses someone walking in front of the car. We see them they walk away from the side of the car, as if they were literally in front of the passenger side, walking away.
And we're all so fucking pissed that we didn't get it on camera, because we screamed, the thing was there, it walked away and then it was gone. And we zoomed away.
It was gone and it never happened again.
We ended up pulling forward a little bit and pulled back over, we put the car back in park and told whatever it was that it was not allowed to follow us and it could not come home with us. It was not welcome.
That wasn't even the scariest thing that happened.
So we continue driving down Riverdale and we pull out our phones because we saw the person on the Tesla and have it recording on the Tesla screen the whole time.
Zoe is sitting in the back middle seat, with her left hand holding her phone and her elbow sitting on the cars center console, and her other right hand over my mouth, like with her fingers sitting above her top lip, and all of a sudden Ella freaks out and asks if Zoe just touched her. Zoe told her no and that the hand that she could have touched her with was right next to her holding her phone. Ella said it felt like someone like brushed her shirt.
We're driving down the road trying to find a specific tree that, legend has it a lady
was fixing her car, the car got hit she burned into the tree. We're driving, and it feels like we sort of lose all sense of where we are. It felt like we had been on that road for hours, but also we had no idea where we were in relation to the other roads that are literally right by there. or what was even around us. It felt heavy, with weird trees along the sides but then there are open spots too where nothing was around. It's like open and trees, feeling open, but also closed off in a way.
We finally find this specific tree, and one half of the tree has leaves on it while the other half, where the legend that the lady burned, has no eaves on that side of the tree. We flip a uwe and pull into a little nook on the side of the road where we could park and like look at the tree.
We were sitting in the car and we turned on the Spirit Talker app again, and nothing was coming up. It was dead, not a single word coming up. At the same time, Dallas was filming a spot in the side mirror because she could see the tree in the mirror but also thought she saw a figure or something else.
And then all of a sudden, Ella gets this coughing fit out of nowhere while we are watching the Spirit Talker app still do absolutely nothing. Zoe says, "let's recalibrate the app", so we clicked the recalibrate button on the phone, Zoe says it's recalibrating., Ella says that's really creepy, and immediately as it's recalibrating, Ella looks to the left and there are headlights shining into our car across the street, literally out of nowhere.
This is the video where you can see us recalibrating the Spirit Talk app and that it's pitch black then you hear Ella yell to film and see the headlights in the top right corner. You see the headlights then turn red then disappear as we drive away.
This other car is not even on a road, it's on a dirt path, as if you were sitting in a field, looking at us. Not on a path, not in a driveway, not near a house, not near anywhere anyone was living. It came out of no where, we have video of us driving past that spot with nothing or no one there.
We do a U-turn maybe two feet in front of the tree, come back around and we're filming this tree, talking about this tree, what could be up with this tree and then the fucking headlights come on. We would have seen a car drive up, or heard it since we had our window down.
We couldn't get a look at the car given that they had their brights and headlights on right in our faces, but from what we could see on the lights they were older looking and square shaped and a square grill.
Ella starts yelling for us to film, we panic, and start driving away. Zoe is still recording the car headlights as we are driving, and as we are pulling away you see the lights turn red - and the reason this is weird is because it was the front headlights, not the tail/break lights. And the only reason we know that for sure is because they shined their brights at us. So that's why it makes the video of us driving away so much weirder because they turn red and then they are gone.
They just disappeared, there was nothing, they were just gone.
So we drove away in a panic and went back to Ella's where we continued the rest of the podcast recording recapping this experience. One of the craziest experiences we have had so far during this podcast.
